This Privacy Policy describes how LingWrite (“the App”, “we”, or “us”) handles information when you use the App and related web pages. Please read it carefully before use.
1. Overview
LingWrite is an AI-assisted long-form writing workspace for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. We are an individual developer and do not operate our own user account system. We do not store your manuscripts, project settings, or API keys on developer-operated servers.
Core data is stored locally on your device and may sync via Apple iCloud under your Apple ID. AI features are processed by third-party providers you configure (e.g. OpenAI, DeepSeek, Ollama).
“Website” means https://www.ttbye.top/lingwrite and its subpages. Contact form handling (if enabled) is described in Section 8.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 The LingWrite App
Data generally not collected by the developer directly:
- Novel projects, chapter text, characters, worldbuilding, foreshadowing, tasks
- AI provider URLs and API keys (stored in the system Keychain, optionally synced via iCloud Keychain)
- Project files and SQLite database synced through iCloud
When iCloud sync is enabled, Apple processes this data under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Limited information the developer may receive indirectly:
- StoreKit subscription status from Apple when you purchase or restore (we do not receive your Apple ID password)
- Email content you voluntarily send when contacting support
Optional local diagnostics:
- Developer mode may log AI requests locally under Application Support; logs are not uploaded automatically
2.2 AI Third-Party Providers
When you use AI generation, polishing, or setting generation, the App sends prompts, setting summaries, and chapter context to your chosen provider.
- We do not relay or store these requests on our servers
- Each provider’s handling is governed by its own policy
- Do not submit government IDs, payment card numbers, passwords, or similar sensitive data in prompts
2.3 This Website
When you visit product, privacy, or terms pages, the server may log IP address, browser type, path, and timestamps for operations and statistics, plus language preference via ?lang= or cookies.
If a contact form is enabled, name, email, and message content may be stored on the web server and emailed to the administrator for replies.
3. How We Use Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App and website
- Process App Store subscriptions and restores (via Apple)
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information except:
- Apple — subscriptions, iCloud, App Store distribution
- Your configured AI providers — only when you use AI features
- Legal requirements — when required by law or to protect rights
5. Storage and Security
- Creative data stays on your device; with iCloud, Apple handles cloud storage and encryption in transit
- API keys remain in the Apple Keychain
- You are responsible for backing up your work
6. Retention
- In-app data: managed by you (deleting a project removes corresponding local/iCloud data)
- Web logs: retained for a reasonable period, then deleted or anonymized
- Contact messages: retained as needed to resolve inquiries
7. Your Rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we do not maintain developer-side accounts, most data can be deleted directly in the App or iCloud.

8. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated in the App or on the website. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
